Up to $1500 Tax Credit on High Efficiency Heating & Cooling Units
Tax credits for homeowners who install high efficiency furnaces, boilers, hot water heaters, heat pumps and air conditioners. President Obama has been promoting increasing the energy efficiency of homes and buildings as a central part of the stimulus plan. The plan was signed Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009.
Under this bill, a taxpayer could claim all $1,500 for the installation or combination of a high efficiency furnace or air conditioner or all $1,500 for the installation of a high efficiency heat pump or the taxpayer could spread it around for improvements to windows, roofing shingles and other qualified equipment. By removing the lifetime limit, the window is open for future tax credits beyond 2010.
